We’re entering the final weekend of the San Francisco Fringe Festival! This is my 9th Festival Fringe as a staff technician. This year I was marvelously lucky to be assigned to the show Submarine, which is epic, hilarious, and utterly wordless. The show is inventive and fun and the two clowns stuck in a sub are incredible physical performers who climb things that should not be climbed and make audiences laugh without words.
Of course this being the Fringe, Submarine is only one of 41 inventive different original pieces of theater, and they are all scheduled so that you can see as many as three in a night or even more in an afternoon. If you’re in San Francisco, check it out this weekend before the doors close Sunday night.
And if you’re coming to see Submarine, arrive early — the buzz is immense and their final two shows, tonight at 8:30 and Sunday at 4:00, are certain to sell-out.
